As we conclude the week, it is time to review the progress that has been made in the past few days. Let us take a moment to evaluate the advancements achieved in the past few days.

Particl Desktop ๐Ÿ–ฅ

We can now report that the majority of bugs identified with the release of Particl Desktop 3.3 are now resolved and ready to push. We are currently wrapping a few remaining issues, notably the one related to the malfunctioning of the marketplace.

If you are having difficulty with the marketplace, specifically with orders that are not being accepted by the seller or with the other party you're transacting with not progressing through the escrow steps, it is likely to be related to the issue we are currently addressing.

We expect to be done with these fixes shortly, after which we'll immediately push Particl Desktop 3.3.1 live. Once that happens, we will resume work on the upcoming seller app. ย

Additionally, we have been striving to increase the efficacy of the desktop client when running within test environments and on testnet/regtest. This is primarily to facilitate debugging and is mostly intended for internal use and troubleshooting.

BasicSwap ๐Ÿ“ˆ

Most of the progress made in regards to BasicSwap these past few days have been on the GUI side of things. We are still wrapping up the last components and issues of the GUI and will be ready to release it ASAP.

Market Making Script ๐Ÿค–

We have initiated a broader community testing of a few of the market making script functions. Specifically, we have distributed, in the BasicSwap testing group, a template configuration file to be used in conjunction with the script and are observing the testing results.

It should be noted that the present testing is focused solely on the automated reposting of offers to the order book in addition to the automatic updating of pricing information.

We will roll out testing for additional features shortly, and the initial version of the script will be made available to the public upon completion of the necessary tests.

If you would like to assist in testing the script, please send us a message and we will add you to the Element testing room with the corresponding instructions.

SMSG 2.0 vs Web Framework โš–๏ธ

This week, we've initited a more in-depth R&D phase for SMSG 2.0; assembling together the various concepts that will go into it.

We have also been assessing the viability of leveraging other existing mixnets to scale up Particl dApps (BasicSwap and Particl Marketplace) in the short-term with the intention of shifting the primary focus from building SMSG 2.0 to developing the web platform. Indeed, being able to leverage existing protocols is a key part of our new modular and open vision.

This approach could expedite the web deployment process of Particl dApps, thus addressing some of their critical barriers to adoption more promptly. Ultimately, this would facilitate Particl dApps to access a broader audience more quickly, thus accelerating the rate at which they can gain increased adoption.

It is important to recall that scaling up both BSX and Particl Marketplace is a necessary step before deploying them on the web. Integrating an existing mixnet rather than building a new one from scratch may assist us in expediting the process, thus allowing for the deployment of user-friendly web dApps in a more compressed timeline.

Of course, a variety of factors must be taken into consideration when determining if this approach is the most viable, such as whether any existing mixnets are capable of meeting all of our dApps' needs. At present, it is too soon to confirm that this is the path we will ultimately choose, but we still wanted to provide an update on our current deliberations.

Note: Although we might save time by utilizing an established mixnet for our dApps deployment on the web, we still fully plan to build SMSG 2.0 subsequently as a major step in our roadmap as it is a distinctively unique and revolutionary concept in the field.

All this would mean is that, in the short-term, we would refocus our development efforts, going from constructing SMSG 2.0 to creating the web framework in the first place, in a bid to bring Particl dApps to the web more rapidly and kickstart their adoption.

As always, we thank you immensely for your passion and dedication to Particl and what it's working towards achieving. None of it would be possible without you all!

We wish you a great weekend we'll see you all back on Monday! ๐Ÿ‘‹
