The week is coming to an end, which means it's time for our weekly development progress report! So let's quickly see what progress has been made in the past few days.
Particl Desktop π₯
We are still in the process of integrating the new changes for Particl Desktop 3.3 into the client's front end. While this may not sound all that different from last week's update, we are observing steady progress on this task.
This is the current main desktop-related task and the last one before we can release Particl Desktop 3.3 (aside from any testing, as usual).
Particl Core π
Core Codebase Maintenance π οΈ
As usual, we've been keeping up with upstream updates as part of our ever-ongoing effort to maintain Particl Core up-to-date with Bitcoin's latest version. You can always keep track of those changes by following this link.
Particl Core 24.0 π§
Last week we mentioned that we might prepare pre-release builds for Particl Core 24.0 this week. This is exactly what we did a few days ago, meaning Particl Core 24.0 is now live on mainnet as a pre-release.
And so, as soon as Bitcoin releases its 24.0 core update, we'll be to push Particl Core 24.0 as a full release. In the meantime, you can test it today on mainnet, and as always, let us know if you encounter any issues, bugs or have specific feedback.
BasicSwap π
We are still wrapping up the very last pieces of the BasicSwap DEX GUI and will initiate the final closed beta testing round this coming Tuesday!
Following that important milestone, we'll also finish up BasicSwap's website and publish it a few days into the closed beta testing period, and definitely before BasicSwap's open beta release.
Back-end Improvements π
As part of BasicSwap's ongoing development process, we are still working on and pushing a variety of back-end improvements to the DEX protocol as we progress on its GUI.
This week, we've had the notable addition of a display for XMR viewkeys on the bid page. We've also seen a few other minor additions, which can be tracked by following the DEX's repository on Github.
Additionally, we've added simple notes that detail how private or secret swaps can be done between two users without ever putting an offer on the books. Obviously, this specific type of private order requires the two parties to find each other and agree on the trade terms on an external platform. What this feature allows them to do is safely execute a trade without the need for them to trust each other or use a middleman. Perfect for private OTC deals!
BasicSwap DEX's Beta Status π
Although we will very soon release BasicSwap's open beta to the public, it's important to remember that it is still beta software. That means its development is still ongoing and there may be missing features or areas in need of improvements.
As such, we're thrilled with the amount and level of community discussions, questions, and general curiosity we've observed about BasicSwap lately.
This is precisely what we're looking for moving ahead with the open beta, and we want to channel that energy to improve the platform more quickly.
That's why we will need as many people as possible to test the system, make swaps, and try to break it. Every single bit helps, and we're about to get started. As we begin the final phase of closed beta testing on Tuesday, stay tuned for the announcement of the open beta launch, which should follow shortly after that.
As always, we thank you immensely for your passion and dedication to Particl and what it's working towards achieving. None of it would be possible without you all!
We wish you a great weekend we'll see you all back on Monday! π
