The week is coming to an end, which means it's time for our weekly development progress report! So let's quickly see what progress has been made in the past few days.

Particl Desktop Progress Update

We're still working through incrementally separating Particl Core from Particl Desktop and, by the same process, making the desktop client more user-configurable.

As we've mentioned in previous progress reports, this is a large but essential step as we move ahead with Particl's upcoming development cycle, which transforms the ecosystem's architecture with a modular approach.

Note: As mentioned in this week's announcement, once the new development cycle begins after Particl Desktop 3.3, we will transition from reporting on Particl Desktop's progress to instead reporting on the ecosystem-wide progress.

As usual, we've been keeping up with upstream updates as part of our ever-ongoing effort to maintain Particl Core up-to-date with Bitcoin's latest version. You can always keep track of those changes by following this link.

BasicSwap 📈

We've been spending a lot of time testing the interaction of BasicSwap's codebase with its new GUI. As we go through this process, we're adding, fixing, and tweaking both components to prepare them for the grand open beta launch.

Notably, we've added, this week, a WebSocket server to the GUI, allowing for more dynamic notifications when an action is required from the user. We've also added a way for the GUI to connect to external APIs to suggest current rates to users when creating an order on the book.

We are currently in the last step before beginning the final round of testing with the closed beta group. Once that is through, we'll be ready to release the BasicSwap open beta publicly!

Announcement of Particl's Next Evolutionary Phase

This Tuesday, we published the major announcement of Particl's next evolutionary phase — a journey to make the Particl ecosystem modular and more developer-friendly and make dApps built on it (i.e., Particl Marketplace, BasicSwap DEX) more open, accessible, and easy to use than ever.

Particl’s Next Evolutionary Leap Forward
Learn about the team’s new major development cycle and discover Particl’s upcoming open-source foundation for the development and deployment of privacy-first dApps.

This major development cycle will focus on four pillars that will transform Particl into an alternative, parallel digital environment on which privacy-first decentralized applications can be deployed - one that is entirely independent and completely resilient from the legacy internet framework.

  1. SMSG 2.0 — A decentralized and private internet protocol
  2. Granting Particl a modular architecture
  3. Access Gateways and dApp Accessibility
  4. Currency and protocol agnosticism

New Development Roadmap

Accompanying this major announcement was the release of Particl's new development roadmap, which showcases the team's critical path ahead as we work through this important phase of the project.

Proposal for 3rd Team Funding Request is Live

Team Funding Proposal #3
Learn all the details about the Particl team’s second funding request from the Treasury Fund.

To support the team through this development cycle, we published yesterday our 3rd funding request from the treasury fund. The funds requested in this proposal are mostly intended to uninterruptedly fund the upcoming development cycle at the current pace and pay for the various operation-related expenses.

With higher PART prices and liquidity, the extra PART will be allocated to fund various non-development-related initiatives such as marketing, communications, community, and outreach efforts to promote the ecosystem and its dApps.

  • To read, discuss, or ask questions about the team's funding proposal, check it out on Github.
  • For an extensive version of the proposal and a detailed breakdown of the team's project through the previous funding cycle, take a look at this blog post.
Note: The voting round for this proposal will begin in the next few days. Stay alert, as we'll communicate the exact moment (block numbers) in the next few days.

As always, we thank you immensely for your passion and dedication to Particl and what it's working towards achieving. None of it would be possible without you all!

We wish you a great weekend we'll see you all back on Monday! 👋
