As the week ends, let's take a moment to look back at what we've achieved in the past few days and see what we've got to look forward to in the week to come.
Particl Desktop Update π₯οΈ
This week's desktop-related work has been focused on making progress with the updates for Particl Desktop 3.3.3, continuing to prioritize updating dependencies and addressing reported issues.
We expect this segment of the Particl Desktop 3.3.3 development to be the most time-consuming, primarily due to the lag in updating dependencies caused by the significant pause in Particl Desktop development.
Once the dependency updates and issue resolutions are complete, we will shift our focus to the following items and release Particl Desktop 3.3.3 when they are wrapped up.
- Update Particl Desktop-related dependencies and modules. (in progress)
- Diagnose and fix a problem with how market identities behave. (in progress)
- Diagnose and fix an issue with the editing of Seller Templates. (in progress)
- Update Particl Core version to the latest.
- Tie marketplace content moderation voting threshold to circulating supply.
- Improve proxy connections (better Tor functionality, add i2p, etc).
- Allow copy-pasting via right-clicking.
- Allow for transactions to be abandoned on PD before they are confirmed.
- Default display of chat messages to newest message receive.
Particl Core π
Core Codebase Maintenance π οΈ
As always, we consistently stay up-to-date with Bitcoin's latest version by regularly incorporating upstream updates into Particl Core. You can monitor these changes by visiting this link.
BasicSwap π
User Interface Β π₯οΈ
We are close to completing the next user interface update for the BasicSwap DEX and plan to push it to the dev
branch either by the end of the day or over the weekend.
This particular update introduces changes to both the Wallets page and the individual coin pages, including the addition of QR codes, quality-of-life improvements, and other general changes to the codebase.
Next week, our focus will shift to finalizing the New Offer page, which will also undergo a substantial number of improvements.
Anti-Griefing Protection π‘οΈ
We've continued the development and testing of an optional anti-griefing protection system to raise security for liquidity providers on the DEX.
We will continue working on this in the days to come and let you know once the feature is ready to go live with a dedicated blog post that explains the details with more depth.
For context, from last week's update:
This new feature allows users posting offers to require an additional on-chain PART fee from bidders, which is burned, adding a cost to fake/abandoned swaps or malicious activity such as liquidity locking and draining funds through on-chain fees required from the offerer.
This deterrent, while optional and at the discretion of the offerer, is part of our broader strategy to progressively implement safeguards against various potential abuses over time.
Allow Multiple Base58 Prefix Bytes β
In a bid to facilitate the integration of different cryptocurrencies into the DEX, we've applied a small update to the codebase which allows for multiple base58 prefix bytes.
This was a requirement for the integration of Wownero, among other coins, that is currently being undertaken by community member ofrnxmr.
Particl x Litecoin MWEB Contest π
To celebrate the launch of Litecoin MWEB on BasicSwap DEX, we're giving away five (5) 2013 Lealana 1 Litecoin physical coins, each one valued at nearly $1,000 USD, with only two coins remaining.
For complete details on how to participate, follow this link to our contest blog post. Good luck to everyone!
Note: The fourth round of the contest ends this Sunday, so make sure to participate before that time!

Upcoming Privacy Roundtable π£οΈ
If you've missed last Sunday's Privacy Roundtable centered around the broader topic of governance in cryptocurrency projects, which notably featured BEAM's CTO Alex Romanov, the recording is now available on our Youtube page.
As always, we thank you immensely for your passion and dedication to Particl and what it's working towards achieving. None of it would be possible without you all!
We wish you a great weekend we'll see you all back on Monday! π
