Today we are unveil Particl Desktop; a new name for our powerful, open-source Particl Wallet application built on Electron and Angular.
These are the same tools popular apps like Github, Slack, Discord, Signal, Riot and Skype are built on!
Particl Desktop
Particl Wallet, or Particl GUI, worked good enough as a name for the task it provided; Be a Wallet.
But, as we merge in new features — features beyond simply moving currency — we needed a name that reflected the function of our flagship application.
Particl is more than a privacy coin, it’s a privacy platform.
The new Particl Desktop app will be our same, very popular wallet everyone has been so high on since it was released, plus more. Everyone is anticipating the utility features coming out this quarter like the E2EE communication tools and decentralized marketplace.
Particl Desktop is the app all those cool things get rolled into.
Particl Desktop 1.1.0-RC4 (testnet)
Particl Desktop releases exclusively on Testnet today. This build fixes a lot of bugs and also has some new, cool features like ZAP. We need as many testers volunteering to find issues/bugs with this release candidate (RC4) before we make this available on Mainnet in 10 days.

Release Notes
The team spent time fixing bugs, adding new features and streamlining the flow of the GUI. Some pages have been updated to better the user experience. Furthermore, a major restructure effort over the GUI codebase has been completed.
The code is now more modular, less prone to errors and takes advantage of the capabilities that the latest Angular provides. This pre-marketplace code restructuration will enable us to implement features like auto-update and multiwallet in a much better way.
As the marketplace will also be integrated soon, we renamed the software to the simple and beautiful “Particl Desktop”. This software is intended to include the wallet, the marketplace, secure chat & more. You can now find it under the particl-desktop repository of the Particl GitHub organization.
Test the Particl Desktop to discover all the other improvements we made, and do not hesitate to point out things we might have overlooked in our inevitable humanity (see below to open issues).
ZAP
The addition of the ZAP functionality will greatly assist in successful cold staking activation*. This feature brings the option to:
- Force (ZAP) that last few PART over to the cold stake address that might take a long time to stake otherwise
- Force (ZAP) funds from small wallets to the cold staking address
- Quickly activate cold staking, by means of sending all funds to the cold staking address in a single transaction
- Take note that the later will be less private. If Privacy is a high concern for you we would suggest allowing the cold staking process the needed time to stake the funds as intended.

Get ready !
Particl Desktop v1.1.0 will be available on Mainnet 10 days from today.
This will give the community testers and developers time to find and fix issues on testnet before going live on the main chain.
We’re excited with the new name and clarity a single flagship application represents as the jumping off point for joining the Particl privacy platform network.
