The week is coming to an end, which means it's time for our weekly development progress report! So let's quickly see what progress has been made in the past few days.
Particl Desktop 🖥
We are still wrapping up the process of separating Particl Core from Particl Desktop and, at the same time, adding more user configuration options to the desktop client.
We are getting close to fixing all the little issues across all the different OS'es. There are still a couple remaining, but it's getting closer.
Once completed, a certain amount of work will still be required to get it ready for release, including testing and tweaking the GUI to ensure a comfortable user experience.
After this, Particl Desktop 3.3 will be ready to release. We'll then focus on completing the first version of the seller management system (the evolved version of the "listing seeding proposal").
It will help seed a large number of items on Particl Marketplace and will also serve as the basis for a more advanced set of seller tools that will be compatible with the newer versions of the marketplace that are coming during the next development cycle.

Core Codebase Maintenance 🛠️
tecnovertAs usual, we've been keeping up with upstream updates as part of our ever-ongoing effort to maintain Particl Core up-to-date with Bitcoin's latest version. You can always keep track of those changes by following this link.
Notably, Bitcoin has been inching closer to releasing its 24.0 build, with release candidates scheduled for the 18th of September, 2022. As such, we expect to follow track just a few days after Bitcoin releases version 24.0.
BasicSwap 📈
tecnovertAs we are in the final stages before the launch of BasicSwap's open beta, we have made small fixes and code improvements to the DEX's codebase. You can track that progress here.
Last week, we mentioned that our GUI designer and front-end developer had fallen sick, which led to slower-than-usual progress on BasicSwap's front-end. He has now almost recovered fully. As such, we've been able to make decent progress this week and we can announce that the GUI is now mostly completed. There are only a few minor changes left to make, which are expected to be wrapped up in the next few days.
Once that is done, we'll begin the last round of closed beta testing and then launch the open beta publicly!
Many Updates on the Way! 🚀
BasicSwap is Particl's newest privacy-first dApp and is a major milestone for the project. And so, we've been reviewing and updating a lot of documentation and resources to include it and better communicate Particl's mission and vision, as we announced recently.
As such, you can expect that, over the next few weeks, a few places will receive updates to include information about BasicSwap and refresh the already-published content. This includes...
- An updated and Restructured Particl Academy
- A new website dedicated to BasicSwap
- A refresh to Particl.io
- A new whitepaper for Particl
These updates will ensure that it remains as easy as possible to learn more about BasicSwap and the Particl ecosystem within the context of the newly-announced modular and open approach. It also intends to embolden our mission and amplify the message we want to bring to the world.
