October 27th, 2017 | Preparing for Cold Staking

If you haven’t heard yet, we have a mandatory hard fork scheduled for November 10th that will activate Cold Staking (CS) on Mainnet!

The past 4 weeks of development has been exclusively focused on getting the Particl GUI ready for CS except for a couple exceptions focused on backend Marketplace development. The big push on the GUI has been a coordinated effort — since we launched it on testnet — between our users, testers and developers.

Status Report

What are we busy with

  • UI Integration: Headless browser: Setup electron test — Daemon tests — RPC Queuing — ZMQ
  • GUI Components: Multi-Wallet implementation — Design and Layout changes — Bug Fixing (UAT Testing): Unlock Wallet — Restore Wallet — Hot Wallet Blank interface load — Hot Wallet Error handling issue — Syncing Modal not opening

Waiting for review

  • GUI Components: HD wallet import and generate mnemonic seed — Daemon Modal — Syncing Modal to show connected peers — Daemon Management plugin — Auto start daemon on all platforms — Balance Transfer Bugs — Errors on closing GUI

What is wrapped up

  • UI Integration: Identify RPC and API changes needed around UI Integration — API Service and Consuming
  • GUI Components: RPC Service — Transaction Page Design review — Cold Staking Backend changes — Bug Fixing (UAT Testing)
These changes continue but as of this writing add up to 300 commits, 142 file changes, 4,662 additions and 2,829 deletions over the past 4 weeks

Official GUI Builds for Mainnet

Thanks for all the help with testing, we’re very close now.

The hotly anticipated official builds* of our GUI release on mainnet finally comes to reality next month! Prior to the November 10th activation of Cold Staking on mainnet we will release official builds for the Particl Electron Wallet. So watch out for our twitter announcement.

*While our only official builds to date are for testnet, anyone has been free to compile this wallet for mainnet since its release in September.

Again, we are scheduled for a mandatory hard fork on November 10th. Everyone will need to be running Particl Core 0.15.0.2 or newer prior to that date. Exchanges have been notified and should be prepared.. Please upgrade if you are staking on an older version of the client.

âť• Note: The Particl Copay App is not affected by the hardfork but, the current version does not have the ability to do Cold Staking. The immediate priority is to release GUI official builds before Nov. 10th. After that wallet is in the hands of users the Copay App will be properly updated.

Android Copay users will receive an automatic update to the app if that is enabled on their mobile devices. Desktop Copay users will need to upgrade their apps.
