EDIT: Particl Core 0.19.2.3 has now been fully released, successfully exiting its pre-release status.
A few days ago, Particl published new Particl Core releases on Github and are now available for download. These are the releases of Particl Core 0.19.2.3 (pre-release, mainnet) and Particl Core 0.21.0.1 (pre-release, mainnet).
It is now possible to download these releases by navigating to Particl’s particl-core repository on Github. The Particl team recommends that you always keep your nodes as up-to-date as possible to benefit from all the latest security, stability, and usability improvements.
Particl Core 0.19.2.3
The new Particl Core 0.19.2.3 pre-release is mostly composed of minor bug fixes and improvements. It also re-introduces 32bit builds for Windows, which has now been abandoned by Bitcoin. This lets users with less powerful or more dated computers run Particl Core without issues. The full changelog is as follows:
- Merged Bitcoin 0.19.2 backports.
- New checkpoints.
- Fix
smsginbox
hex encoding bug. - Tighten
IsStandard()
check to fail on trailing script. - Re-enable win32 gitian build.
Particl Core 0.19.2.3 will soon follow with a full release after a more extensive period of testing. In the meantime, you can still download it directly from Github by following this link.
Particl Core 0.21.0.1
The Particl Core 0.21.0.1 release is a pre-release, meaning that it isn’t the main core version used by apps such as the Particl Desktop client or the Partyman cold staking script yet. It is, nonetheless, available on mainnet and can be used with Particl-Qt and the CLI client. It brings Particl back to par with Bitcoin’s latest version (0.21) and includes all the recent changes made to Bitcoin’s code since the last update.
As Bitcoin Core 0.21 has been released a few days ago, Particl Core 0.21 will soon follow with a full release after a more extensive period of testing. You can check out all the new features of Bitcoin Core 0.21, which are also included in Particl Core 0.21, by following this link.
Additionally, since Particl didn’t have any 0.20.x core version, all updates, new features, and improvements made to Bitcoin since 0.20.x are also included in this 0.21 pre-release. For this reason, this is an important update and is recommended for the advanced users who prefer using the more lightweight Particl-Qt client. It is also recommended for those using CLI or interacting directly with the Particl daemon (i.e., if you are working on a Particl application or writing scripts).
Notes on 0.21.0.1:
- A default wallet is no longer created or loaded.
- SQLite backed wallets and multi-process binaries are not converted.
You can download this pre-release directly on Github by following this link.
To catch these releases as soon as they go live, you can follow the particl-core repository on Github. As Particl core developer Tecnovert is ramping up development in multiple areas, you can expect core releases to become more frequent in 2021.
Finally, don’t forget that you can be an integral part of Particl’s success by helping out the team in testing the latest Particl V3 release on testnet. It includes the new Particl Desktop 3.0 client and the completely refactored Particl Marketplace, which introduces the long-awaited multi-market feature (along with many other new features).
