PART Roadmap — v.1.2

Expanding Team

Our Development Team has added 6 full-time and 1 part-time developer since our last team snapshot. Two of our longtime volunteer developers were offered full-time positions in September and are making an immediate impact.

The 2 newest full-timers are starting this month as we push full steam next week on the Particl Marketplace.

PART Roadmap — v.1.2

The team is releasing version 1.2 of our Roadmap today. This graphic shows last quarter’s completed items, new items and changes to future deliverables. I’ll touch on each below.

Completed

Q3 2017 | Third Party integrations Particl Copay App — News Update

Bitpay’s Copay Wallet is one of the best, feature-rich, HD-wallets on the market. Particl Foundation has been using Particl Copay to manage its affairs for both BTC and PART since inception in July. Available on Google Play and our Particl Github repository.

Q3 2017 | Particl Electron Wallet App — News Update

The first official builds for this product were for testnet only. However, everyone has been free to compile this wallet for mainnet since its release in September. The Particl team will be releasing their first official builds of our GUI release for mainnet this week. The past 5 weeks have been all hands on deck to ensure we have a beautiful, smooth wallet ready for Cold Staking.

Closing Out

Q4 2017 | Cold Staking — News Update

This Friday, Cold Staking will be activated on mainnet meaning it has graduated from the testing environment (testnet) into the arms of every user working on the network!

Don’t be left behind! You may be one of the nodes still running old protocol.

New Additions

Q4 2017 | Atomic Swaps

This quarter the PART blockchain will realize it’s not alone in this world! The great guys at Decred Project tested and approved the PR a couple weeks ago. Keep a lookout for promotion of DCR/PART atomic swaps. We will continue to test and collaborate cross chain transactions with other projects. This is a big part of our vision for the cryptoagnostic Marketplace.

This implements the partatomicswap command. Happy to run some tests with you. Thank for the great work!github.com

Deliverable Changes

Q1 2018 | Alpha Marketplace — News Update

As mentioned above and in the last two Dev Updates, all of October and the first week of November, 90% of the development team has been working on Particl GUI in preparation of this Friday’s scheduled hardfork.

Some of the longer lead items like the Particl Marketplace database design and SMSG Messaging had steady development but parallel track items have been displaced.

Being open about the change to schedule now is the most responsible thing we can communicate — as the change is presenting itself. Above, we shared the new team members that are coming on to help us reach these goals.

This week also closes the last critical path item (cold staking) for public release so the team can focus 100% on the Privacy Marketplace. Case in point, a new huge initial commit on paid SMSG code posted earlier today!

More 3rd-Party Integrations

Beginning next week the Dev Team will be back full strength on the Marketplace application. We are always in conversations with people with projects that will add value to Particl. A big piece of the framework that makes up the Particl Platform is having spending/trading/commerce flexibility between cryptocurrencies and off platform.

We’ve shared on Twitter our GUI integrations of some of the popular exchanges we’ve built relationships with — Changelly and Shapeshift among others. These integrations don’t require full-team input, typically just our Lead Core Developer Tecnovert’s expertise.

As the opportunity presents itself we will push for valuable integrations that will benefit the Particl Framework and our users. One to keep a lookout for is with the team at Ledger.

Research Grant

One of our token exchange milestones was to create a research grant with a major university.

Given the resources and focus an education institution can bring to a privacy project like Particl, we saw this as a way to leverage research students and faculty towards decentralized marketplace economics.

The Foundation began November with a $35,000 donation to the New Jersey Institute of Technology that gives us a focused team of students and faculty lead by Assistant Professor Qiang Tang.

His team will spend 6 months combing over privacy enhancements Particl has added on top of Bitcoin such as Ring Signature Confidential Transactions (RingCT) and focused research surrounding decentralized marketplaces, privacy and user acquisition/localization strategies.

Professor Tang’s research interests lie in applied & theoretical cryptography, privacy and computer security. In particular: blockchain technology, post-Snowden cryptography, accountability, and information theoretic security.

When looking for a qualified group of academics to focus on privacy on Particl’s blockchain we were very impressed by Qiang’s own research — which we encourage anyone to take the time to read through some of his papers and publications.
