As we release this update we are extremely excited to see Milestone 2 secured and Network consensus achieved! What an exciting time in the journey of this project!

r/Particl AMA 2017.03.20

On Monday we hosted our first Ask Me Anything (AMA) on the r/Particl subreddit and the community blew our minds with an amazing amount of questions, insights and excitement for Particl. Thank you again for showing up in numbers and asking us anything. I believe around a dozen members of the team were on hand with the questions being grabbed by whomever was the expert and proper time given to each.

The final tally was 34 questions answered or around 1 question every 2 minutes!

We intentionally didn’t shy away from any question and I hope that was reflected in the type of questions we answered, the detail of our answers and the amount of questions we were able to get filled in around 75 minutes.

Your questions were so good and specific that we want to do a series of blog posts that get more specific related to common themes that came up.

Research & Development: Update

The Particl development team is in the middle of research and development of a number of ground-breaking technologies that will be adapted (some for the first time) on a distributed network. Before adapting any innovation into the market code the team first has to leverage the technology created for our prototype “Umbra” onto the latest Bitcoin Core.

Running concurrent with the development team’s work, Particl has also drafted a whitepaper for the decentralized market. The ingredients of the working marketplace, along with other paths of research are included in this document. While this is a working draft, we thought it would be a nice treat to share this with you.

A Decentralized Private Marketplace

DRAFT 0.1

“Yes, [we will not find a solution to political problems in cryptography,] but we can win a major battle in the arms race and gain a new territory of freedom for several years. Governments are good at cutting off the heads of a centrally controlled networks like Napster, but pure P2P networks like Gnutella and Tor seem to be holding their own.” — Satoshi Nakamoto

Particl Market is an open source, decentralized application built for global person to person and business to person eCommerce. The Particl Market will be an attractive option for anyone who buys or sells anything online.

r/Particl

The native marketplace and suite of encrypted communication tools offer unfettered access between buyers and sellers worldwide or just down the street. You can buy or sell anything, similar to eBay, Etsy or Amazon, except that all the transaction data, payments and conversations happen over a self-governed, distributed network instead of a central server. Think of it as going to a local market to buy something you need, from the person who is actually selling it, without a third person as an intermediary.

More to come…

The first quarter of 2017 (Q1) has been extremely busy for the Particl team. We have big goals for the remainder of the year and with those comes the need to have a big team. Our team growth has come from within the community and already, with the announcement of Particl, a number of you have continued to step forward offering to help. We think that’s awesome!
